Christmas visit in the Czech republic
Travelling back home
First plans of coming home week later were changed, I wanted to surprize my friends in Ostrava at Christmas cottage. Excited and looking forward to make a huge surprize, I left to Keflavík airport on 14th of Dec.
Just right at the airport in dute free shop I met 6 Slovak guys, really funny how world is small. Because I had to stay over night at London-Standsted and they as well, we agreed to stay together, chill out and have some fun.
Everything was going well, apart from 12 hours of doing nothing over the night in Stansted. I was trying to sleep, but it was almost impossible.
Extremly tired I came to Prague on 15th of Dec and my friend Barca picked me up. We spent one day together and I could take a rest after this long travelling.
Jæja, Ostrava!
From Prague I took direct train to Ostrava, my university town. After 5 hours I appeard at train station and met my sister, who is studying there as well.
If was Friday, we chilled out and also went ice-skateing to the main square. It was nice to see her after such a long time. Yes, we haven´t seen each other 6 months. There was a lot to talk about and we didnt go to bed before midnight.
Christmas cottage
On Saturday I took a bus to Morávka, where members of AIESEC Ostrava were celebrating Christmas. In really cold weather, over 1 m snow, I finaly reached the destination and I was picked by friends from bus stop.
Unfortunately, other people at the cottage already knew, that I am coming. But whatever. They were happy to see me and I was happy to see them. I also met new members and crazy trainees.
There was lot of fun, we celebrated Christmas (for me 2nd time, and the real ones were still waiting for me), exchanged gifts, talked about traditions in different countries ... even I spoke a bit about Iceland :-)))
And of course party... and BRENIVINN ... i have to say, that there were only two people out of 20, who really like that.

Home, sweet home
After Christmas cottage and 3 more days spent in Ostrava by meeting my friends, me and my sister went home.
It was great to see my parents, my second sister and my granny. I showed them pictures from Iceland, talked a lot about my living here and heard lot of news as well.
And of course, that was Wednesday, just right before Christmas, so next days I spent by finalizing Christmas shopping and decorating our house to create a christmasy mood. Also Christmas Eve was amazing... different from others. I think it´s quite understandable why.
Next 3 days we spent by family visits, our grandparents from father´s side and aunts and uncles from boths sides.
Prague
And it´s 28th of December and I´m again in Prague. Today is Þórdís suppose to come to the Czech Republic. I already agreed with MC to stay in their flat and luckily I met Shantanu, our exMC member and current AI.
Ready to go to airport to pick up Þórdís I took a bus. Unfortunately, the weather was sooooo bad, that they canceled her flight and she had to stay until next morning in Stansted. It was really dangerous to fly in such weather ... snowing all the time, strong wind, almost nothing to see after 5 m.
So, next morning I went to the airport again. I think I´m expert now and I know the way there pretty well :) After over 1hour waiting at arrivals we met each other and I was happy thatÞórdís is all right and finally in Prague.
We had two days to see the Prague, so I was trying to use all time fully to show her all beauties of our capital sity. Þórdís was amazed and said that she loves it. I was very pleased. I have to say, that even though I was not always happy if foreigners knew only Prague out of CZ, it´s true, that Prague is magical and i´m starting to like it more and more.

New Year´s Eve celebration
On 30th evening we took a train to Ostrava, where we planned to have NYE party with friends of mine.
On 31st morning we did some shopping, prepared snacks and food for party and went for walk over the town. Around 5p.m. my friend Sangharsh from India and his wife Piyu came to our flat and pepared for us indian dinner. It was really delicious and we were not able to eat almost nothing during whole party.
We were 9 of us - me, Þórdís, Jana, Lenka and Ladik, Lucka and Ivo, Sang and Piyu. It was small party, but we had lot of fun, interesting conversations, playing cards, drinking and easily enjoying our time. Around midnight we went out infront of townhall, where were already some other people, drinked chamapagne and watched fireworks.
I was very very happy to spent that time of the year with my best friends and I will never forget these moments.

Other town visits
After few days in Ostrava we want back to my home town (Ivanovice). We did a sight seeing trip to Brno, 2nd biggest city in CZ (we saw city centre, huge church Petrin, castle Spilberg). We went also to Vyskov – regional town, saw exhibition of Bethlebems, city centre and had some nice tea in Tea-house.
Iceland is known!
On Friday, 6th of January, we got the opportunity to present Iceland to 7th grade students at primary school in my Ivanovice.
We prepared nice and easy PPT, Þórdís was talking in English and I was translating into Czech. It was quite surprizing that we were able to keep the attention of around 40 kids in the age 13 all 45 minutes.
I loved that presentation and we got really good feedback from teachers as well as from students and school principal.

Travelling back
Jæja, and it´s time to say good bye and come back to Iceland. Is 7th of January and we are sitting in the bus from Ivanovice to Brno. In Brno we are changing bus and going to Prague.
In Prague we met Jirka, exMC VP HR in Iceland and current MC VP ICX in Slovakia. It was qutie funny to talk about my experience from Iceland. He had almost the same one year back :-). And then just the way to London, our lovely Stansted :) and to Keflavík.
I was not sad, I felt like going back to my second home. And actually, it´s true :-). Easily, I had my Christmas vacation in the Czech Republic.
