Trip to Chester, 14.10.

Last Saturday night me and my house mates decided to go for a trip to Chester the next day. Chester is close to Liverpool, takes about 40 mins by train and we heard that its nice place to visit.

I forced the guys that we have to leave the house latest 10 a.m. and because that is so early for them, I promised to do pancakes for breakfast so it motivates them to wake up. ... I did as I promised, though it took me a bit longer to do them so we left half hour later. Probably big mistake, because after buying the tickets at the train station, they announced that due to technical problems on the rail in the one stop before ours, the train will be running wait. OK, no probs, we can wait.... and we were waiting ... and waiting... 30 mins gone and still no train... so we decided to jump into the taxi to get to the city center and there get on the train. And what.. as it's Sunday train goes only every 30 mins and we missed the train by some 5 minutes or so. So we were waiting again...

Finally, at around 12h we left Liverpool and head to Chester. From that time on everything was running on the schedule :)

Chester is the most beautiful town I have seen so far in UK... well, havent seen many places yet. But I liked a lot the old english style buildings, lot of green, the castle... We walked across the city center, almost all around the the city by walking over the city walls, the river had nice surrounding though water could be much cleaner...We visited a museum, cathedral and seen two squirrels playing in the park, passed by horse-race stadium, seen ruins of Roman Amphitheater and wanted to go into the castle too but it was closed due to some technical work in there. And for zoo we didn't have time. So looking forward to go there with Mike and his friends in winter.

Well, just enjoy pics.

No, takže místo očekávaných 10.18 jsme nakonec vyjeli z Liverpoolu až kolem 12h.

No, užijte si fotečky :)

Flashbacks from Afghanistan

I can't sleep today. Dunno why. When I close my eyes the movie like a short shots from Afghanistan is coming on the scene.

I do not know why, but it seems that this country and people sticked to my heart like a 30-second glue. I really miss my time there! Afghanistan is first country I had such an intense experience - religion, living conditions, people.

Flashback are somehow like this

Travel
Dubai airport - people sleeping all over on the carpet floor. Looking quite happy.
Bus from Kabul to Mazar-e Sharif - sleeping Mike, his falling head into side, almost falling from the seat - looking extreemly funny. Two afghan youngsters exchanging simles/laughs with me about this situation.
Taxi driver - very keen on if me and Mike are married and have children.
Mazar-e park and annoying kids - forcing them to believe that Mike and I are husband and wife.

Religion
Islam - endless discussions with W. Safi about arranged marriages and rights to have more than 1 wife.
Funny thing W.Safi's mum said.
Beautiful Blue Mosque in Mazar and hundreds ppl around.
Strong family ties, families of my friends.

Our house
Mici - our lovely cat. So happy to know she is not lost any more. Miss her sleeping with me on my bed.
Morning water pumping from well to get shower ... was quite good exercise and way how to wake up.
Riza - playing all the time the same Turkish song from Tarkan.
Naveed - "Svetla, how is it like to be a women?" :)
Mike's new wake-up tool: me. Though not all the time successful.

Our office
Dust - endless cleaning.
Un-dusting the laptops with extremely noisy car vacuum cleaner, Jamshed's special smile when doing it.
Cleaning ladies from Mediothek.

Food
Amdruddin - smiling and not really understanding what I am saying. "Svetla. More, more?" Ladyfingers!
Quabuli - yummy rice with spinach.
Sabhs chai? Thor chai? Sei chai? ... what was the forth one?
Mike's pasta with mushroom-cheese sauce.

....
....
....

and more still on the tape. But i shall really go to bed now. Have to wake up early and make pancakes for my house mates for breakfast. I promised. And also need to get ready for a trip to Chester.

Trip to North Wales/ Výlet do severního Walesu (6.10.)

On Saturday I went for a trip to North Wales which was organized by Student Union at LJMU. for exchange students from Liverpool John Moores University and Hope University. There was a full bus of students from China, Japan, Spain, France, few Germans, Russians, one from Basque country and I was the only one from Czech rep.

Trip started at 8 a.m. and first we head towards Llandudno, a Victorian resort on a fine bay between limestone headlands. We had a nice walk along the seacoast and saw a little bit of the city. After that we head to the garden at Bodnant, where we enjoyed nice flowers, trees, river and small waterfall, all in peaceful atmosphere. Then we drove towards Conwy where is amazing castle and town built up in 13th century by king Edward I. We could walk on the medieval walls, have view all over the city, enjoy harbor, walk over the Telford suspension bridge (a marvel of the engineering in 19th century), visit the oldest and the smallest houses in Conwy and explore the town.

One extra thing - in every place we were they had signs both in English and in Welsh. Interesting language... wouldn't be albe to understand any single word :s

All day we had great weather - sunny, no clouds, quite warm for local conditions :) So I really enjoyed. We got back to Liverpool around 7 p.m. I am tired like a small baby. Just gonna put this post on and some pics and got o bed :)

Celý den jsme měli úžasné počasí - slunečno, na obloze ani mráčku, docela teplo na místní podmínky :) takže jsem si to fakt užila. Do Liverpoolu jsme se vrátili kolem 7. No a teď dopíšu tento post, přidám nějaké fotky a jdu spát. Jsem utahaná jak kotě.

Famous? ... well, maybe now a little bit :)

Shortly and without any fame, please:

Last week there was published an article about in "Vyskovske noviny" (local papers for the region Vyskov in CZ), in section "Interview of the week". It was mostly about my time in Iceland, Afghanistan and a little about UK where I am now. I did some promo of AIESEC and talked also about PAIWASTOON, though the name couldn't be obviously mentioned :)

If you are interested in reading... well first learn Czech, and then u can see below :D
