Alive!

'It looks like you are dead, write something on your blog!' said my mum few days ago. Well, it's true it's been long time since my last post. Sorry for that, I'm just kind of out of the "posting" mood lately.

Well, what has happen since Christmas? I managed to hand in my last coursework just on the day when I was flying back to Czech. I flew home just for 10 days in January to do one exam from International finance.

Successfully passed all my courses here at LJMU and also the exam in Ostrava. Now I started to work on my master's thesis. Those who don't know, my theme is "Analysis of foreign direct investments into developing countries with focus on Afghanistan". It's very interesting even though the theory party is boring as always theories are ;-) I have to write around 60 pages and hand it it complete on 25th April. Seems like I've got still some time but actually not really. Time is flying like crazy and I am starting to stress out a bit when I think of the final exam in June..brr!

I am not attending any courses this semester here, just focusing on my thesis. Of course I am not all day and night long sitting by computer and trying to look smart. There are some parties happening, I met new people from France, Lithuania, Ireland, Japan...and it's fun.

On Sunday 10.2. there was a celebration of the Chinese New Year in city centre. It was interesting from the beginning but got boring after a while as there was only a Dragon walking back and forth, some firecrackers and drums. Me and my friends (Aurelien/France, his sister and French friends, Kitty/China) were watching the show and then decided to do a bit of sightseeing as Aurelien's sister, her boyfriend and other friend were just visiting. So we went to see the Anglican cathedral (the bells have the highest and heaviest peal in the world - 67m and the Grand Organ is the largest in the UK and probably the largest operational organ in the world). Then we walked around St. James's Mount on which is the cathedral build, passed by "suitcase" statues on Hope street and visited modern Metropolitan cathedral on Mount Pleasant.

Oh yeah just remembered one story from beg. of January, hehe. I was sick quite a lot over last week of Dec and beg. of January, having some nasty flu and coughing like a hell. Was trying to take some over-counter medicine but didnt help so went to NHS walk-in center on Sunday as I couldn't stand it any more and I wasn't registered at the GP at that time. So the guy there checked me and gave me some very strong antibiotics. He said it's killing all bacteria even the good ones so u have to eat at least two yogurts a day to keep your stomach happy. Honestly said, I felt even worse after taking those pills than before - even when eating yogurt my stomach was upset and I felt so bad because of it that I almost forget about my flu. Heh. Luckily in just 5 days after that I was flying back home, so immediately when I arrived I visited my GP. And do u know what he said?? Wouldn't believe it! He started to laugh and said "These pills we were giving to our patients 30 years ago!!!" No wonder why NHS is for free any more :p
